9th - 12th Grades

Providing a broad survey of the fascinating field of psychology as a social science, this comprehensive elective academic class will enjoy delving in to a deeper understanding of human behavior.

Students will study and explore the major “schools” of psychology, cognition, sensation and perception, learning and memory, motivation and emotion, personality, stress, psychopathology, and social behavior.

Self-assessment and introspection will abound as students learn the “why” behind what they do and how they do it. Included are problem-solving projects focusing on research, vocabulary building, simulated and hands-on labs. Prepare to have many “a-ha” moments in this lively and eye-opening social science course!

(For example, did you know that if the human brain was opened up and flattened, it would be approximately the size of a pillowcase?)

This is one of those courses that students WANT to take!
