Throughout the course of the year, the students gain an appreciation of Laws of Nature (Physics) by engaging in experiments and relating experimental data to physical scientific concepts.
In this one year course students will master the CA state content standards for Physics. Students' studies will cover measurement, vectors, Laws of Motion, work and energy, momentum and collisions, circular motion, gravitation, heat, thermodynamics, waves, sound, light, refraction, electrical energy and current, circuits and magnetism and atomic physics. The general objective of this course is to provide a clear conceptual development and practice with both fundamental physics concepts and problem solving skills. Students will develop abilities necessary to meet the following learning outcomes: understand scientific inquiry, build an understanding of linear motion and two dimensional motion including circular motion, develop an understanding of forces and Newton’s Laws of Motion, describe and apply concepts of impulse and momentum, develop an understanding of energy as the ability to cause change, describe wave motion and the wave nature of sound and light, express and understanding of static electricity and direct current electrical circuits.
The student should plan to be responsible for completing 4 to 8 hours of reading and assignments outside of class each week. The primary learning opportunity to obtain information will be through reading the text in the student’s own time and completing assigned homework out of text. In class, the opportunities for learning will primarily consist of introduction to the topics, experiments, and review of study guides. Due to time contraints Exams will be take home.

Hello, Welcome. I am the Science and Math group tutor at Inspire. I teach high school math and sciences, and I love it. I joke that "Algebra is my Love Language" and "Physics is my Passion". This is my 4th year with Inspire and my 8th year tutoring. I am a former Process Engineer from Silicon Valley, where I worked in the semiconductor industry with the machines that made computer chips. I have a Bachelors degree in Math and Physics from Humboldt State University and Over 20 years of engineering experience. I want to inspire the next generation in math, science and engineering. I am here to bridge the gap for home school students and educate the future. I look forward to having the opportunity to teach math and sciences to your students.
