6th - 8th Grades

Description:

Continued 2nd hour of Fusion Science

During this year long class, students will learn important concepts from the three main branches of science: Life, Physical, and Earth. With a tri-method curriculum, student will focus on hands-on science labs and activities in the classroom and digital lessons at home. Students will also use a textbook that doubles as their workbook to reinforce and enrich important concepts. ScienceFusion builds inquiry and STEM skills in the classroom, at home, on a laptop, and while using the science textbook. The digital curriculum, virtual labs, hands-on activities, and write-in science textbook develop important critical-thinking skills that prepare students for success in future science courses and in the workplace. We will work through three textbook/workbooks over two semesters. The three workbooks are listed above and can be purchased with charter funds. They are available at the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt website and on Amazon for $15 each.

Instructor Biography

I have always had a love for learning every since I was a child.  I have studied dance since the age of two: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, World Dance styles, and Hip-Hop. I received my B.A. in Multicultural Education from Sonoma State University and began working as a Program Coordinator for at-risk youth.  It was an amazing experience and it solidified my desire to serve the youth.

Over the past 20 years I have had the opportunity to teach k-12th grade and community college courses.  This has given opportunity to work with a variety of families and students. During my 20 year journey I was trained in Behavioral Management and have worked specifically with children on the Autism spectrum.  This training has allowed me to serve as a special education aide as well as in-home behavioral services and case management.

I'm also a mother of two children who I have homeschooled, my son 16 and my daughter 5.  It is very important to me that I provided students with room to create, question, explore, and grow in an environment that strengthens their academics.
