9th - 12th Grades

Description:

High School Bible is a year long course for 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. (Fall and Spring semesters, 15 weeks each semester).

For the 2017-2018 school year our focus is JESUS. We will study the life, death, resurrection and acsension of our Lord and Savior. Throughout the year we will read the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in chronological order. We will also look at passages in the Old Testament that point us to the coming Messiah and how Christ fulfilled the messianic prophecies found in the Old Testament.

As we study the life of Christ our focus will be both academic (Understanding who Jesus really is as revealed in scripture) and devotional (applying the truth of Jesus; His life, teachings and the finished work of the cross to our lives.) As we grow in our knowledge of Jesus Christ and all that He accomplished, we will understand who we are in Christ and the fullness of life he invites us to live through his grace and the Holy Spirit.

Students will be encouraged to read their Bibles daily, keep a journal, and participate in classroom discussions. Our classroom discussions will involve conversations about difficult issues and topics today's high school students are facing and how to approach these with the truth of scripture.

Instructor Biography

Hi, my name is Paul Gullion. I live in Auburn with my wife, Lynn, and our 11 y.o. son, Elijah. We have been married for 21 years. Our son is homeschooled and attends classes at Inspire Learning Academy.

I have served in some type of ministry for over 20 years, beginning in high school when I joined together with a group of friends to form a drama team ministry.

Over the years I have had the privilege of serving in just about every possible capacity within the church including, but not in any particular order: children's pastor, youth pastor, evangelism pastor, associate pastor, and lead pastor. And, if you know anything about being a pastor, then you know I have also spent countless hours cleaning toilets, vacuuming floors, sweeping parking lots, painting walls, remodeling entire buildings, and of course, emptying lots of trash cans 🙂

For the last 3 years I have been a stay at home dad by choice so that we can continue to homeschool our son. In addition to my responsibilities at home and at ILA, I also coach our son in baseball and football and serve on the board of the Placer Jr. Hillmen youth football organization.

When I'm not busy with home life, school or sports I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I taught myself how to play guitar. I'm not very good but my goal was simply to be able to worship around a campfire or sitting by self at home so mission accomplished. I enjoy hiking and go camping every chance I get. I also enjoy woodworking in my spare time.
